"It takes time to change, nothing can be done in few months of actions against climate change" if one is thinking so there are 100 youth from Nepal to challenge the thought. Climate change is disturbing the system as a result of human interference in the natural system but the time has come when we human need to revise our actions to protect ourselves as well as protecting the environment, protecting the world. Who else can do the job better than youth who has to live in future as well?
100 youth from every inch of Nepal came together to a single platform of "I am a Power shifter" to initiate innovative campaigns to act against change. "Yes 2.5 months may not be adequate time to bring the change or stop climate change but it?s enough to initiate the change that we want for future," said Niraj Tamrakar, coordinator of the "I am a Power shifter" Campaign- a follow up action of the Global Power shift, held in June 2013 in Instanbul, Turkey.
"Shifting knowledge is very important, we are generally reluctant to share the knowledge we have but will that help in any ways, NO! We need to shift knowledge to shift power," stressed Dr. Gajurel, Member Secretary of National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC) on 28 March 2014, inauguration day of the campaign at NTNC hall, Lalitpur. The campaign indeed is finding, building and sharing knowledge on climate change. Working on the motto of "Knowledge to Action to Promotion", the campaign aims to empower 100 youth to initiate and sustain activism against climate change and gather a critical mass for environment conservation.
Coming from the diverse background the participants have shown great interest and commitment to initiate actions to bring change through five different themes
1. Promoting Eco friendly Behaviour
2. Eco friendly Business and Tourism
3. Promoting Alternative Energy in Household level
4. Climate research and policy
5. Documentation, Drama and Documentary
The five teams have developed their respective action plan during their two days training on March 29 and 30 at Nagarkot , which will be executed in coming 2 months and their output will be shared on June 5, 2014 on the occasion of World Environment day. Behavioural change from the school level, initiatives to manage solid waste, research on existing climate change policy and loop holes in its execution, finding and filling gaps for promoting alternative energy, incorporating environment and business or tourism for sustainable economy, exploration of success stories of eco friendly business and documentation of the success stories of climate movements, problems caused by climate change and sharing the issues and solutions in the wider mass are some of the activities that will be executed by the 100 power shifters.
Going green is not just a slogan but need of the hour. "At present Green is fashion but let?s work for environment, for our life rather for fashion. Keep your moral high and execute your actions confidently, you will surely succeed? motivated Ganesh Shah former Environment Minister, .
The GPS team is committed to continue the program post June 5 as well, where the present power shifters will motivate other youths to shift power in glocal level.

Thank you very much Christy. appreciation of our initiatives by Tunza Eco gen have always been a motivating and inspiring factor for me.
Working with the seniors and like minded people is always a great moment where we get ideas after discussion and consideration of the actions initiated by different team members. We hope the actions that we have started will have a sustainable impression on mind of all the participants.
