With immense pride & great satisfaction I wish to share that our school DPS, Sharjah has been found eligible to be awarded the Green Flag.

I personally missed my classes in the beginning of academic session & dedicated myself along with other Eco-Committee members of our school and with the able & ceaseless guidance of our teacher Mrs. Anjum Hasan we have achieved this accolade.

The missed classes were compensated by late night cover ups, extra classes by teachers & help of classmates but this experience is simply overwhelming. Our school got this coveted recognition in first attempt itself.

Emirates Wildlife Society in association with WWF (EWS-WWF) and HSBC Bank Middle East Ltd. Has launched this Initiative which is part of the worldwide Eco-Schools programme by the Foundation of Environmental Education. Here in the UAE, many schools take part in the programme, it is supported by the Ministry of Education. Eco-Schools is designed to educate and empower students on environmental issues and targets the next generation of eco-leaders while positioning youngsters as active contributors.

Pupils worked with teachers, parents and members of the local community to lead the change towards a greener world through fun, action-oriented activities by engaging their whole school in taking practical steps to lower their electricity and water consumption and waste generation.  

It?s really important to involve youngsters as ambassadors and active partners in environmental education. Taking good care of our Planet by taking sustainable living choices is a key message of Eco-Schools, which is a practical yet engaging way to elevate their interest in environmental issues. It enables us youngsters to take action to conserve and protect our country?s natural environment for generations to come.

Our school will shortly organize a ceremony & EWS-WWF representatives will be present to handover the coveted Green Flag to DPS – Sharjah.
