Flood issues in Nigeria |

Flood in Nigeria is becoming alarming has years passes by, this is due to high amount of rainfall recorded every year and bad drainage system unable to cater for this amount of rainfall. Another reason for the issue of flooding is the dumping of refuse on drainage lines leading to blockages in different drainage systems. The issue of flooding in Nigeria has rendered several homeless, degraded the environment. In other to ensure a sustainable living for every class of citizen in Nigeria there is need to first of all enlighten the citizen on the impact of dumping of refuse in drainage systems and also the impact of improper waste management.

Proper waste management & refraining from dumping of refuse in drainage systems are the major issues in Nigeria as reported by you.
Intensive education & mass participation is the key to solve this problem.

Temitope: Thanks for bringing up the "bad drainage system" problem in Nigeria . It's really sad that authorities turn a blind eye to such problems . You could address this by highlighting through media , thru NGOs if you have any there. Form an association and then meet local municipality to escalate this . Thanks for highlighting and sharing with us.

Again, all environmental issues are linked to each other. Dumping wastes to drainage systems leads to more damages on natural disasters and it also leads many people become homeless. Thank you for pointing out drainage system problem, it's valuable information.

What is rate of rainfall in Nigeria? If it is more than average than Rain Water Harvesting would also be of the solution to use rainfall as a water resource rather than waiting for distruction and problems caused by havey rainfall
