What an awesome evening it was --- EARTH HOUR 2012 Dubai got over just now  (10pm Dubai time – 3am Seoul )  and writing my report after attending the full event gives me immense satisfaction. There were many thousands who stayed on right till the end signaling their commitment to saving energy.

 Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum , Dubai switched off its dazzling lights for an hour today to show its solidarity with the global drive toward energy conservation. This the 5th consecutive year of participation. Dubai's iconic landmarks viz. the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab hotel went dark sharp at 8.30pm tonight. Their majestic silhouettes seemed to beckon each of the residents to save energy for a better tomorrow.

"I will , if you will" is the slogan of Dubai this Earth Hour. Organised by DEWA        ( Dubai Electricity and Water Authority ) this call to action brought thousands of residents , young and old alike , to the  Burj Khalifa . It was a festive atmosphere as we all lit candles and marched around the Burj for an hour.

The  Emirates Environmental Group ( EEG )  had its stall right at the entrance of the pavilion. EEG has hundreds of active members and it was a great honour for me to be chosen to man the Earth Hour stall and attend to the numerous visitors and explain the modalities of the Earth Hour events to them . I attended to the stall right from 6pm till the end . I also participated in the Earth Hour walk from 8.30pm till 9.30pm where we walked around the Burj Khalifa with candles in our hands.
