Toxicology and Waste Management |
---|
THE INTRODUCTION OF TOXICOLOGY Toxicology can be defined as the study of the adverse effects of chemicals on living system, whether they are human, animals, plants or microbes. Toxicology is a very important for many fields such as chemistry, biology, pharmacology, molecular biology, physiology and medicine. The toxicology can provide better understanding of the actions of a class of chemical substances, findings of value to the chemist. Not just that, toxicology can be applied practically by environmental engineers and air modeller to determine the route, concentration and migration of chemical in water, soil, and air. The clinician use toxicology to record signs and symptoms and conduct differential diagnose and also to emphasize if a certain disease process is present and to eliminate other, non-environmental causes. Furthermore, the regulatory toxicology uses it as an experimental data to determine the risk and benefits or the costs and benefits of exposure to certain chemicals. Other than that, they use to determine whether such chemical will allowed in public circles and to what extent its use and exposure will regulated.
Clinical toxicology is also involved by applying the principle of toxicology within a diagnostic setting and typically they use to determine the adverse effect or disease or injury is due to some type of chemical exposure. The nurse, physician and others that related to the position are good in consulting with the experimental toxicology.
In terms of waste management, a toxicology study is important in order to identify the effects of municipal solid waste disposal towards the environment. Municipal solid waste disposal contains waste obtained from paints, plastic bottles, light bulbs, polythene bags, batteries and other items used in daily life. When these waste products decompose, it will result in the deposition of chemicals in low concentration. Low concentration of heavy metals and metalloids affect plant growth, water quality, animals and human?s health, and the soil organisms. The deposition of metals will also bring negative effects on the environment.

And will discuss further on the TOXICOLOGICAL EFFECTS IN EACH OF THE WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM in the following article. :D |

Thank you for the nice introduction on the toxicology, I learned a lot from your article. We should be aware of toxicology because we face a variety of toxic substances. What we eat, breath and put on, simply everything.

The knowledge of toxicology is very important in recent years because these toxic substances cause great harm to the organisms in the planet and sometime threat the existence also. Thank you for a informative article.

I have been recently very much interested in toxicology as I am from agriculture background and the use of pesticides injudiciously has been an issue. Thank you for the article.
