First & foremost HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Dear Eco-Gen team. You are a great inspiration & kind friend who guides us & motivates us to care & conserve for the environment.

On the occasion of World Environment Day I wish greener earth to all of us. It is a wish for you & me. We all are working tirelessly to bring a smile on the face of our mother earth.

This day is also for celebrating the success on account of our achievements of past year.

As an active member of Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), Dubai, I was declared a winner in the category of Beverage Cartons & among the top 10 collectors in the category of Mobile Phones. I won two Top prizes in collection & depositing the recycling material with EEG. This was made possible with my efforts in 2013 in not throwing the recyclable material in the dustbins instead I convinced my family & friends to collect & keep the recyclables with them. From time it was deposited with EEG, who takes the record of all the deposits in a year & then they declare a winner in each categories.

The chairperson of the EEG Ms. Habiba Al Marashi bestowed the prizes in a glittering ceremony at Knowledge Village in Dubai. Other photos are with my beloved mother.

Winning in two category does not means that I have not made efforts in other categories. My family & friends dose not throw any of the recyclable stuff. Paper, Cardboard, Beverage Carton, Cans, Mobiles, Printer Toners, Plastic and Glass etc. all is safely kept till we deposit it with EEG. In other categories other competitors did better than me & they won.

This has three benefits:

1.       Bonding is increased with friends & neighbors.

2.       Landfills are saved from dumping.

3.       We get rewarded.

I encourage all readers in all the countries represented by Tunza Eco-Gen to organize similar collection drives in their regions. Prizes can be sponsored by local Organisations if the ambassadors or other readers approach them with a concrete plan. I sincerely hope that the day is not far when all landfills of the world are free from recyclable material.
