Youth for Environment(1 to 3 June 2014)

In the occasion of world environment day 2014. I organize an Youth based door to door campaign with the support of my siblings and friends. Campaign  main theme was – Mountain Areas: Problems,Opportunity,Challenges and Recommendation .  Through this campaign I personally interact with my 27 friends and at the same time I also observed  my friends lifestyle and their opinion about various environmental issue in Uttarakhand State. We also discussed on Youth involvement in environment.  Indeed it was a great time.  We discussed a lot about mountain areas problems and their solutions as well. We also developed a youth declaration based on our inputs and discussions and handover this to state authorities to raise our voice. After the campaign I motivate my friends to initiate same types of  campaigns in their friend circle to promote environmental education and to raise my voice as well.

 

Declaration—Youth for Environment Campaign – 2014

In the occasion of World Environment Day 2014 we more than 25 youths from Uttarakhand state of India participate in ?Youth for Environment campaign? organized by the Saviors of Environment and Youth and Children Science Group(YCSG).

(1)- Mountain areas youth should be given an opportunity in the policy making and advocacy structure of the government.

(2)- Promote sustainable and pro-poor ecotourism in the mountains.

(3)- Promote small and sustainable hydro projects in the Uttarakhand state.

(4)- Promotion of low cost renewable energy and appropriate technology should be promoted in the Uttarakhand State.

(5)- Promotion of green economy should by driven by significant involvement of private sector in the mountains area.

(6)- Promote of indigenous seeds and advance eco-friendly agricultural practices in the uttarakhand state and creation of robust value chains for indigenous local products.

(7)- Promote capacity building and awareness program on green solution should be promoted at different levels- government,media,youth and students.

(8)- Promote indigenous knowledge from the Uttarakhand region and promoting the production and  use of sustainable products by adopting modern technology.

(9)- Encourage afforestation of region specific plants to promote green cover,generation livelihood,mitigate disaster and enhance carbon credits.
