World?s Biggest Covered Butterfly Garden in Dubai

by | 16-06-2014 13:13 recommendations 0

Dubai has large green landscapes, flowers, Date Palms and many other local trees but what I never saw in Dubai is a Butterfly. I know that for many ambassadors in Greener countries Butterfly is a common sight. But, here in Dubai due to extreme weather conditions, they are hard to find.

As early as in July 2014 World's Biggest Covered Butterfly Garden in Dubai has been planned to be inaugurated in Dubai Miracle Garden. The garden already has approx. 45 Million Thriving flowers. Just imagine thousands of butterflies flying among millions of flowers.

The task is a tricky & tough one. Engineer Abdul Nasser Rahhal, Managing Director of AKAR Landscaping Services and Agriculture and General Manager of Miracle Garden and the Butterfly Garden, remarked that Covering 4,000 square metres, the round-shaped butterfly garden will consist of nine custom-built domes and a butterfly museum. Each dome will be in a different colour, and will be home to 24 types of butterflies from several tropical countries. The butterflies will be of different colours, shapes and sizes and will fly over a range of flowers and plants and around visitors. Nectar plants, which are butterfly food plants, will be planted in different colours inside each dome to attract and maintain the butterfly population. Some of the most popular nectar plants used in butterfly gardens include butterfly bush and butterfly weed.

Whenever I go on vacation to outside UAE, I try to go to a natural surroundings. Besides, insisting on Green vacation, me & my family go to a hill station, a forest so that we may feel close to nature. I get fascinated by forest life, natural flowers, greenery & of course butterflies. I saw them in many colors, shapes & with beautiful feathers. I tried to catch one by running after & managed to catch it as well, but I did not killed the creature, I caressed it, felt the velvet like feather & released it in the wild.

Now my dream will come true & I along with thousands of Locals & visitors to the UAE & Dubai will be able to see & admire the thousands of butterflies in the miracle garden. I am raring to go inside once it is opened to public.
