School Health & Safety Awareness Program

Program Introduction & Background
Major cities of Pakistan, like Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad is expanding day by day and are totally different from what they used to be 10 year ago. Every year hundreds and thousands of vehicles are being added to roads and condition on roads becomes more complex which results into increase in road accidents. Road accidents become frequent and every one of us can easily say that he/she have had road accident (unfortunately). According to city?s Road Traffic Injury research and Prevention Centre Records, over 16,821 people are injured and killed in the first half of 2012. So it would be necessary for all of us, one who drive and one who is pedestrian, must be familiar with road safety and not only road safety, I must say we all should have basic knowledge of safety, that what to do in case of emergency, how to deal with emergency situation and how to prevent risk/hazards, especially our children and youth must have this basic knowledge of safety concerns in their daily life.

On the basis of above mentioned background a program was designed to keep kids aware of basics of heath and safety. Program was based on the following contents:

Wow! the program you conducted is wonderful. You also have practically demonstrated about the use of fire extinguisher. I liked that most. Your program seems very relevent. As far as Nepal is concerned, the road accidents are also soaring at present days and there is also need of such program. Thank you so much Farhan for sharing your activities. Keep on doing good work.:)

Great programme. I am sure this must have educated children a lot about safety rules. Demonstration of fire extinguisher would have been good too because normally every1 sees fire extinguishers installed /placed and advised to use in case of fire but never anyone has been taught how to use or how it works. Safety should be of utmost importance and should be given top priority.
