Observations during my recent India tour

by | 22-07-2014 02:46 recommendations 0

Normally I visit my home country India once in a year with my parents during my summer vacations and try to gather information on various issues/developments in this vast country with more than a billion population...

During my recent visit to Kolkata, I have come across numerous occasions of roadside water taps without any proper closing arrangements and due to the same, water is just wasted and goes into the drains for 24 hrs...More than this, I am surprised to see that nobody was paying any attention to this...shows irresponsible behavior for the citizens...so long way to go!!!

But, one good thing also has been noticed by me...In many places a new battery operated public transport vehicle (popularly called Tuk Tuk car) has been introduced in place of petrol/Diesel driven auto rickshaws...This type of vehicles are introduced to cover short distance (point to point) in the suburban areas...This initiative will surely a green initiative which needs to be encouraged...
Also I have seen a lots of changes when cleaning the city spaces are concerned with Govt and public initiatives...Kolkata city is looking better after introduction of few such initiatives in many places...

So, I returned UAE with a mixed bag of filling, but I am hopeful that in future days to come, people will take more responsibility in taking care of their surroundings for a better tomorrow..

These type of vehicles are also common in our country, which run on by cylinder gases and they are effective means of transportation on our country

Wow, interesting! Thank you for the article, I really enjoyed reading it :)
I also agree with your opinion, the citizen's recognition on the environment will be improved by time. The traditional philosophy of India is pro-environment protection and living with it in harmony.

Battery operated Tuk-Tuk is indeed a great green step in Kolkata . Thanks for sharing. But it is sad to see water overflowing and being wasted . Hope authorities take action soon enough.
