Environmental Education Program

in China

[Shanghai, China] April 25th, 2014 Samsung Engineering Co., Ltd expanded its Eco-generation School, which is their representative CSR program, in China. Through the first launch at Liucheng Experimental School in Shanghai, Samsung Engineering?s employees provided environmental education including lectures and seminars focused on energy related topics for 150 students.

At the event, students were given opportunities to assemble the Eco-generation solar-panel house, a specially designed assembly kit for understanding the solar power system, and share their ideas about making an eco-friendly environment. Liucheng Experimental School? s teacher Yaging Gao commented: ?We are so happy to have a chance to learn about the energy from the field engineers of Samsung Engineering and I?m glad to see our students enjoying the activities and lectures.?

This event is meaningful to Samsung Engineering Construction Co., Ltd (SECC) in Shanghai, because it?s the first big CSR activity of since it was founded in 2003. SECC serves as one of the major overseas branch office of Samsung Engineering, supporting overseas EPC projects by placing orders and executing procurement work.

Starting in Korea in 1996, Eco-generation School program has been launched in India and Thailand. It plans to further expand to Bolivia, Uzbekistan and Mexico to build a strong network among children and students worldwide and promote environmental awareness raising education programs for youth. Eco-generation School will be hosted by SECC in China annually.

About Eco-generation

Samsung Engineering established Eco-generation in 1996 as one of the largest environmental education programs for children and youth in Korea. In 2006, Samsung Engineering expanded the program to the Asia-Pacific region by launching an English Eco-generation (www.eco-generation.org) website in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). www.eco-generation.org is a children?s educational environmental website that emphasizes learning and sharing knowledge about the environment.

With a 17 year history, Eco-generation is Samsung Engineering?s largest running CSR program, which has been supported by Samsung Engineering?s expertise in the environmental business. It is such a great initiative by Eco Gen which is not only Samsung's largest running CSR but undoubtedly the largest and most successful environmental forum globally. We all are so fortunate to be it's members or ambassadors. We get to learn so much , make so many like minded friends all across the globe , share out thoughts , exchange our ideas and opinions on various environmental matters and we get to learn from each other's best practices. It is a mamoth program. Congrats Eco gen for this expansion in China. Assembly kit to understand solar power is quite an interesting idea for easy understanding.
