"The Secret of the Taste of Water: What is in the Water We Drink?" is one of the column I like the most.

This column is very relevant and relatable to common people. We have read since childhood that water has no taste and smell but as a kid I always used to think that why does water from different places and locality taste different? I still remember when I shifted to a different city for my higher education it took me almost 3-4 month to get used to with the taste of water of that city.

Tab water, bottled water, Water from purifiers etc all taste slightly different from the other and this column explains the reason behind it. It highlights how different minerals like calcium, sodium, potassium, magnesium and iron affect the taste of water.

As a health conscious person it was very good to know how a particular mineral affects the taste of our water. For example if water tastes bitter there's a possibility that it has high level of magnesium. Now I can judge and tell the reson behind the different tastes of water.

This column also explains the concept of Water hardness very beautiful with perfect examples and data. I came to know about the different levels of water hardness and how it affects the taste and other properties of water.

Column also mentioned a story of Wonhyo and Water in a Skull. Since I wasn't aware about this story so I googled it and read it online and to be honest I loved reading it.

It was interesting to read and know that how same water may be felt differently depending on the person and situation. As a kid I used to love drinking cold water in summers because it used to taste so good and soothing and now I know there's a reason why cold tastes better than the lukewarm water.

After reading this column I came to the conclusion that there's no single parameter to judge the taste and quality of water. There are many factors behind it even a person's mood or the accompanying food can be one of the reason.

Moreover, whenever we talk about the taste it is very subjective in nature and it may vary person to person and situation to situation.

Comparison between Hard water and soft water really enriched my knowledge and I really enjoyed reading the examples to differentiate between them.

I also came to know that some bottled water contains fluoride, which helps prevent tooth decay and In fact many countries are already implemented policies to add fluoride in tab water to prevent tooth decay and many studies found that it is an effective step but adding fluoride in tab water is still controversial for many reasons and it may lead to other health issues. I'll study about this particular issue to enrich my knowledge and check the data and reports of my state whether my state is adding fluoride or not.

This column was very informative and I get to know about a lot of new things. I am definitely gonna research more about this topic. Thanks Eco generation for introducing me to this beautiful Topic.

Energy Harvesting: Collecting Wasted Energy is my favorite column.

Whenever we think about the Energy or electricity generation we often think about the conventional sources. It was very interesting and enlightening to read that there are many other ways of energy harvesting and how these small ways can make a big difference when adopted by a large population.

Column explains how conventional process of electricity generation puts a significant burden on earth's environment. Burning of fossil fuel contributes to pollution and greenhouse gases that cause problems like global warming. Different types of energy sources have different negative impact on our environment. For example when we use nuclear power to generate energy it comes with the problem of radioactive waste which is very harmful for environment and living beings and can cause serious health related problems.

Using less electricity and efficient use of electricity is one of the best solution we have to reduce the negative impacts.

I really like the fact that we can utilize the energy that is wasted meaninglessly in our day to day life. Our small actions in daily life can make a huge difference. Solar, thermal and kinetic energy around us can be used and converted into electricity and such small actions of energy Harvesting can save help save electricity produced by power plants.

Column also explains how we can harvest energy from a range of sources. For example one of the source is Human body. It was explained in a very simple manner how body's heat can be used to generate electricity through the thermoelectric effect and there were many examples on how and where we can use this energy which made this column more interesting and engaging.

There were many practical examples like wristwatches running on their own without battery, bicycle headlights working without a battery. It made it very clear that there are many sustainable ways to generate energy and it won't take much to adopt a green lifestyle.

I would also highlight one more thing which i really liked and read for the first time. We can obtain energy from the flow of blood and not just that, we can use this energy in medical devices inside the Human body.

This particular column was very insightful and I learned a lot of new things. It explains how even a insignificant energy in nature can be harvested and small scale sources can make a big difference. Use of such sources will be very helpful in solving the energy and environmental issues we are facing.

Last but not the least, Thank you so much eco generation for launching such informative and insightful columns. These columns are written in a very simple yet effective manner. I really appreciate whatever you are doing to spread the awareness and information.
    Thanks!!

The Eco Column that I like the most is "Recovery of Endangered Animals" because for a long time I have been interested in participating in endangered species recovery projects. One of these endangered species is the giant frog of Lake Junín, endemic to Lake Junín, Peru. The Peruvian environmental authorities, including SERFOR, have been making many efforts to prevent its extinction and have carried out several programs in which the population can participate and become aware of the importance of caring for the habitat of this endangered species. I plan to participate in one of these programs in the future.

I love the Eco Column "Recovery of Endangered Animals" because it highlights the efforts of governments and other authorities in the recovery of endangered species. For example, the Korean government has implemented restoration projects for the Asian black bear, the Korean red fox, and other important species. The U.S. government has also implemented recovery programs for species such as the bald eagle and the California condor. It is really comforting and encouraging that most governments around the world have started to work on the recovery of endangered species since, as mentioned in the eco column, each species plays a very important role in the balance of ecosystems. The disappearance of one of these species can cause the disappearance of others or serious damage to ecosystems, to which humans also belong.

This Eco Column also highlights that different efforts are required to achieve the successful recovery of species. The collaboration of different institutions to achieve the conservation and recovery of species is of paramount importance. Authorities, companies, NGOs, universities, public and private institutions, and the population are needed to achieve the objective.

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Mahatma Gandhi.

Although humans have been responsible for the extinction of numerous species, they have also been responsible for the recovery of several of them. We are increasingly vindicating ourselves and demonstrating that we are making moral progress in this regard. As Mahatma Gandhi said, the greatness of our nations and societies and their moral progress depend on the way we treat our animals. Let us demonstrate our greatness by caring not only for endangered species but for all species, as each one of them is a key part of our ecosystems.

Reading the Eco Column "Recovery of Endangered Animals" was very comforting, since I was happy and hopeful to learn that great efforts have been made to achieve the recovery of different endangered species. It is possible to build a sustainable future for all: animals, plants, and humans.

@Eco Generation, thank you so much for the Eco Columns. They were very informative. 😄💚

The column I liked the most is- "Victims of Air Pollution".

The column highlights the fact that humans are not the only victims of the negative impact of Air Pollution. Be it Animals, Plants, Bees, Inorganic substances or Monuments like The Taj Mahal, all are under the threat and victims of Air Pollution.

Whenever we talk about Air Pollution or any Pollution in general we tend to think that humans are the one under the threat but we often forget about the life around us. This column highlights how Air pollutants that harm our body are also harmful to animals and how our pets and wildlife close to cities are more affected.

It also highlights negative impact of Air Pollution on plants and how Air Pollution leads to acid rain and how acid rain inhibits photosynthesis by destroying the chlorophyll in plants and not just that, it also highlights how plants that are grown in a polluted environment will naturally affect the animals that feed on them. It highlights how one action leads to another.

Column also highlights how Air Pollution affects insects and pollination and how improper pollination leads to no fruit and causes a negative impact on the ecosystem and because of this the production of crops also declines.

As an Indian I have read the news many times, how Air Pollution and acid rain is damaging The Taj Mahal and I am sure the situation is more or less same with other monuments in other part of the world.

Column beautifully highlights how every thing is interconnected and every action has a reaction. It also reminds us that human are the only one polluting the environment but they aren't not the only victims of the Pollution. Our Pets, wildlife, plants etc are also suffering because of us and its high time we need to understand that we have one common earth and we have some responsibility towards our planet and other living and non beings around us.

Strange Creatures in the Dark and Cold is my favourite column

This report is informative and insightful because it provides a detailed and fascinating description of the unique and diverse ecosystem that exists in the deep sea, an area that is still largely unexplored and was once thought to be barren.

The report highlights the challenges of living in such extreme environments, including the absence of sunlight, cold temperatures, and high water pressure. The report also describes the various adaptations that deep-sea animals have developed to survive, including bioluminescence, large teeth and mouths, and degenerated swim bladders.

The report also explains the ecological relationships and interactions between the different organisms such as the existence of hydrothermal vents, a peculiar environment that supports a diverse ecosystem. The microorganisms living near these vents provide energy to various marine animals, such as shrimp, crabs, and clams, through symbiotic relationships.

The report also mentions the existence of the Riftia pachyptila, a worm-like organism that has no digestive system but instead stores microorganisms in its internal organs to obtain minerals and energy.

The report also acknowledges that the deep sea remains largely unexplored, and there is still much to discover. This highlights the importance of continued research and exploration of the deep sea to gain a better understanding of its diverse ecosystem and the potential benefits it may offer.

Overall, this report provides important and interesting insights into the unique, complex mystery ecosystem of the deep sea, and the importance of exploring and understanding this environment for the benefit of scientific research and discovery.
