APPLY NOW: Facilitate a discussion or pitch idea at GLF youth session in Peru

Date: 08/09/2014 to 25/09/2014     Type: Online

Are you:

  • Involved in forestry, agriculture, fisheries, mountains or land use and passionate about the role youth play?
  • 18-30 years old?
  • Good at fostering lively group discussions or presenting ideas in an interesting and succinct way?
  • Passionate about finding creative solutions to big challenges?

You are just the kind of person we are looking for to lead dynamic, action-oriented roundtable discussions or pitch innovative ideas to an expert panel at the 2014 Global Landscapes Forum.

What is the youth session at the 2014 Global Landscapes Forum?

We learnt a thing or two after the last youth session atthe 2013 Global Landscapes Forum and the youth discussions at the Forests Asia Summit.

The first: Young people are not given many opportunities to discuss and debate integrated approaches to land use in their studies or workplaces.

The second: Despite increasing commitments for youth representation in committees and at conferences, there?s not been a space for sufficient mentoring and skill building opportunities so young people can effectively contribute to discussions, network and become better professionals.

This year, we want to build the skills of youth to become leaders and give them a space to effectively contribute to innovative cross-cutting solutions to land use, climate change and sustainable development issues.

That?s why we?ve designed an action packed youth session and are looking for bright young people to lead it.

Agenda

The youth session will take place on December 6 that the Westin Hotel and Convention Center in Lima, Peru. Register to attend here.

We?ll begin with a series of roundtable discussions on the four themes of the Global Landscapes Forum. We?re looking to form actionable, innovative ideas for integrated land use, ranging from local case studies to policy and practice solutions.

These key ideas will then be pitched to a panel of science and policy experts in the form of a dragons? den. To keep the format fun and interesting, pitches may involve a three slide presentation, a headline of what they want to achieve a couple of years into the future, a visual representation of their idea (using play dough, model cars, drawing on a flipchart) etc.

If you?d like more information about the session or would like to sponsor the session or participants, please contact Michelle at m.kovacevic@cgiar.org
