Ratnapark has always been eyed as a place for political handout and vendors paradise. With the growth of the urban center and lack of maintenance, beauty of park is fading gradually. however since April the park has been closed for the public with an intention of reviving this historic park. ever since Power shift Nepal has been actively involved and contributing in the maintenance of the park to put an effort for the sustainability of the park.
As continuation of the action Power shift Nepal in partnership with Kathmandu Metropolitan City and School of Environmental Science and Management (SchEMS) is identifying and putting description plate on each plate along continuation of cleaning and maintenance program on June 21, to give the visitors and idea of the floral species found in the park, hence developing it as a park to acquire knowledge as well in future. objectives: To develop Ratnapark as Knowledge park To clean and contribute in maintenance of Ratnapark, The program will be carried out with the active participation of the Power Shifters from "I am a Power Shifter" campaign launched by Power shift Nepal however help and participation is expected from all the stakeholders and concerned agencies. The program will be conducted from 7 am to 10 am on 21 June, 2014. the day will be dedicated for, 1. Putting description plate on each plant 2. Cleanliness of Ratnapark- collection and segregation of waste from ground and ponds, cleaning of the dustbins 3. Plantation of seasonal plants or any other suitable plants in the existing garden the event is led by BEE and Research and policy group of Power Shift Nepal |
