University of Melbourne- Free online course

Date: August 12, 2013 to October 12, 2013     Type: Online

Hi guys! I'm currently enrolled in an online course at coursera. This is taught by environmental scientists and professors from University of Melbourne :) Here is the briefer.

"Welcome to Climate Change.

Climate Change is one of the most complex problems facing our civilisation. Every aspect of our lives is affected: our economic structures, our health, the food we eat, the generation and use of energy and the physical and environmental systems on our planet. Since changes to the climate affect each country in a different way, there are complex international political landscapes to negotiate, based in fundamental questions about equity. In this course, we will provide a detailed discussion of three key aspects of the climate change discussion: adaptation and mitigation, the scientific studies of climate science and the economic framework. Much of the basic science underpinning climate science is well-established, and we will not debate that science in this course. However the issues become more complex as we examine the impacts on local environments and our possible responses.

We aim to provide you with an authoritative overview on all these issues, with expert lecturers in each discipline. By the end of the course, we hope that you will have been stimulated to consider many aspects of the climate change problem, and to explore these issues with other Courserians in many different locations and backgrounds. We excited by the opportunity to engage with a diverse community of scholars on these issues. We wish you every success in your studies."

- Anyway, this is really a good opportunity for us to learn more about climate change and its persisting adverse effects. You just need internet connection, computer and of course, commitment.

The course tackles the technicalities that surround this issue, in that way we could be "real" advocates not just hardcore extremists.
