Competition to design the logo of the Green Climate Fund Date: TBD to 28/07/2013 Type: Online |
---|
Background The Green Climate Fund (the Fund) is a new multilateral fund for climate finance that was agreed by Parties at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) conference in Cancun, Mexico (2010). The Fund?s purpose is to make a significant contribution to the global efforts to to limit warming to 2 degrees Celsius by providing support to developing countries to help limit or reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, and to adapt to the unavoidable impacts of climate change. The Fund will promote a paradigm shift to help developing countries transform their economies and put them on a low‐emission and climate‐resilient path. It will pursue a country‐driven approach, taking into account the needs of those developing countries that are particularly vulnerable to climate change impacts and while doing so, it will promote environmental, social, economic, and development co‐benefits and take a gender‐sensitive approach. Design of the logo The Board of the Green Climate Fund has launched an international competition (the?Competition?) inviting art and design schools and universities worldwide, and younger people more broadly, to submit proposals for a logo of the Green Climate Fund. The focus of the Competition is to provide opportunities for students and young professionals to design the logo for an international fund. The logo should: Reflect the resolve of the international community to address and overcome climate change Reflect the inclusive and distinct institutional character of the Fund which involves States, private sector and civil society, working together to address the challenge of the climate change
Be in line with the !--object--ives of the Fund to promote the paradigm shift towards low‐emissions and climate‐resilient development pathways Technical requirements Participants should provide, both in colour and in black and white, the proposed logo: o On a plain background o On a letterhead (A4 format) o On a business card o As it would appear on the Fund?s website The material must be sent in high resolution PNG/JPEG/TIFF or GIF formats. Other types of format will NOT be accepted. Designed logos should be sent electronically to logo@gcfund.net.
The submissions should include a short (max 1 page A4) de!--script--ion of the motivation for the design and its graphic derivation. Inputs submitted in an incorrect format, improper file type, or sent via regular mail will not be considered in the selection and evaluation process.
The successful logo design must be provided in vector format (EPS) upon reqest following the conclusion of the Competition.

The logo usage might include, but would not be limited to, various on‐line as well as printable publications, posters, web‐sites, or any other communication materials. The Green Climate Fund will hold the right to distribute the logo to third parties or
