First Ecomobility Festival of the World to be held in South Korea this September- Proud Moderator for the Event Simran Vedvyas

In preparation for youth participation in Ecomobility Festival International Youth Council has chosen me as one of the three youth leaders to moderate a one-month online consultation for Ecomobility.

Held in Suwon, South Korea from 1 to 30 September 2013, the EcoMobility World Festival 2013 will offer a peek into the ecomobile city of the future by transforming an urban neighborhood into a people-oriented environment. 

The data coming out of the consultation will be analyzed during the youth pre meeting and finally presented during the festival as youth recommendations.

Urban mobility is a key area of interest to young people as urban areas today face chronic demands for faster commutes, safer roads, more space, and cleaner air, and local governments face increasingly difficult decisions about mobility issues and land use policies in their communities. These and other transport issues will be addressed through EcoMobility transport initiative happening in Suwon city, South Korea in September.  The 21st century city has to be committed to greenhouse gas reductions, domestically and externally, promote environmental capital, and be a low-carbon city fighting climate change.

Ecomobility aims to pursue an urban policy that is harmonious with the environment, focuses on community culture in a citizen-driven manner. The EcoMobility Festival will be the melting pot for ideas, thoughts, decisions, and discussions in urban mobility. Decision makers, mobility experts, practitioners, and everyday transport users will come together to share their experiences and experiments.

EcoMobility World Festival 2013 Suwon Organising Committee established EcoMobility Online Forum for Koreans (http://cafe.daum.net/emwf-forum) on July 22(Mon), and many Korean youth joined Korean version online forum rather than English one due to their language preference.

The distinguished moderators for this policy discussion will be IYC Members Chndy Rogel (Philippines), Kehkashan Basu (India) and Simran Vedvyas (United Arab Emirates)
