As summer is about to set in, water crisis in different parts of Dhaka city and in many other urban and rural areas of Bangladesh is gradually coming into scenario. The over extraction of groundwater and pollution of surface water have been acting as the driving force to explore alternative options for water source. Rainwater Harvesting has in recent past been considered as a potential alternate to reduce the pressure to some extent on current practice. With the 1st day of rain (Pohela Asar) is around the corner, it is an opportunity for the water professionals to interact on the issue of possibility of using rainwater for storage and recharge in urban areas.
RAiN Forum Society, Bangladesh (www.rainforum.org) in collaboration with WaterAid in Bangladesh are going to arrange a day-long "Rain Day Celebration" program on June 15, 2013 at Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC), Dhaka to give a platform for the water professionals and concerned citizens including Engineers, Planners, Architects, Researchers, Teachers, Students, Policy Makers, Journalists, Environmentalists and others to discuss its suitability in the urban context of Bangladesh. Programme Schedule: Time Event 9.30 – 10.00 am Inauguration 10.00 – 10.30 am Exhibition Opening and Visit 10.30 - 11.00 am Interactive Session with Students/ Clubs/ small CBO's 11.00 - 11.15 am Break 11.15 - 1.00 pm Interactive Session with Industries, Business Groups, NGOs who have been working on Water and Rainwater 1.00 – 1.30 pm Wrap up of morning session 1.30 – 2.30 pm Break 3.00 – 4.30 pm Policy Dialogue Session on Water and Rainwater 4.30 - 5.00 pm Break 5.00 - 7.00 pm Award Ceremony and Cultural Function |
