Ghana's government has authorized the destruction of the Atewa Hills for bauxite mining, and unless we take decisive action, the critically endangered Togo Slippery Frog will go extinct as its streams in Atewa get destroyed. This frog exists ONLY in the Atewa Hills, so we must stop this mining! Fortunately, over the past 18 months we have built a strong network of volunteers in Ghana. We have formed a coalition and with other environmental groups we are working to protect the Atewa Hills as Ghana's 6th National Park. Unfortunately, we cannot do any further work until and unless we raise money for this campaign! Your contribution will enable us to pay for billboards and printed materials about the Slippery Frog and the Atewa Hills to pay for radio and television spots so that we can get nationwide support for our campaign to educate the communities surrounding the Slippery Frog and to meet with politicians and regional kings. We need to raise $5,000 for this campaign!
Please make a tax-deductible contribution to support our efforts to protect Ghana's critically endangered Togo Slippery Frog!
With your help we CAN prevent the extinction of this incredible frog!

"Mining produces a short-term benefit to outsiders, but a long-term loss to Ghana's future."
Meet the critically endangered Togo Slippery Frog (Conraua derooi)
The critically endangered Togo Slippery Frog is known to live on only two streams in the world, both in Atewa Forest Range Reserve. The frogs are threatened by proposed mountaintop removal mining that would clog their streams, and by poachers from nearby villages who eat the frogs. The Togo Slippery Frog is unlikely to survive without a concerted effort on our part and yours to protect the Reserve as Ghana's 6th national park (Atewa Hills National Park), and to educate the locals and train them to grow alternative food sources and earn money through innovative means such as beekeeping and mushroom farming. The Togo Slippery Frog is highly aquatic, seldom venturing far from water. They are amazing swimmers, and will dart underwater at the first sign of danger. Please support our efforts to save the Togo Slippery Frog! Your tax-deductible donation will help us protect their habitat as Ghana's 6th National Park!

Ghana's Save The Frogs Day 2013 Events Planned in Three Cities
SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana is organizing educational events across Ghana. The primary goals are raising amphibian awareness, specifically (1) to reduce the frog meat trade, and (2) to increase support of our efforts to create the Atewa Hills National Park. These events are being coordinated and implemented by SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana Executive Director Gilbert Adum SAVE THE FROGS! Academy student Samuel Antwi the KNUST and UCAES SAVE THE FROGS! Chapters and SAVE THE FROGS! Advisory Committee Chairman Michael Starkey, who will be spending the month in Ghana giving educational presentations and leading field courses for students. These events will educate thousands of Ghanaians about frogs, but they cost real money to put on. Right now we need to raise $1,500 to cover printed materials, auditorium and data projector rental, and transportation costs. Can you help out? Chances are you've always wanted to help make Africa a better place. Here's your chance! Please donate at www.savethefrogs.com/donate == feel free to email us at contact@savethefrogs.com to ask us to direct your donation to Ghana, and we'll even list your name in the Thank You section of www.savethefrogs.com/ghana

SAVE THE FROGS! Biologist Michael Starkey Headed To Ghana
SAVE THE FROGS! Advisory Committee Chairman Michael Starkey will travel to Ghana in April to meet with politicians, tribal leaders, and academics in order to further the SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana message of amphibian conservation. Mr. Starkey will give presentations, teach a field course to undergraduates, advise the students of our three university chapters, and assist with Save The Frogs Day events. Generally speaking, Michael will grow Ghana's network of students, academics, politicians and biologists interested in amphibian conservation efforts and work towards the creation of the Atewa Hills National Park, home of the critically endangered Togo Slippery Frog. Michael's trip is being coordinated by SAVE THE FROGS! Ghana Executive Director Gilbert Adum, and funded by the generous support of donors like you! We are still trying to raise $2,500 for Michael's expenses and we welcome and encourage your support. Please donate at http://savethefrogs.com/donate then email Michael at starkey@savethefrogs.com to let him know that the funds are to support his trip. Thanks!

A message from SAVE THE FROGS! Advisory Committee Chairman Michael Starkey
Ghana's frogs are under serious threat from habitat destruction, pollution and pesticides, and from over-harvesting for the frog meat and frog bait trades. With so many factors contributing to the decline in amphibian populations, this April I will travel to Ghana to meet with politicians, tribal leaders, and academics in order to further SAVE THE FROGS! GHANA message of amphibian conservation. With your assistance I will give presentations and grow Ghana's network of students, academics and biologists interested in amphibian conservation efforts.
Please consider giving a gift to benefit this cause. Anything you can donate is greatly appreciated. If only 50 people each donated $50 toward our conservation efforts in Ghana, then the cost of these efforts would be completely covered. We at SAVE THE FROGS! are working endlessly to bring greater consciousness to the effects we humans have on the planet, and inspire people to protect it! Thank you so much and together we can save the frogs!
After you donate, just email me at starkey@savethefrogs.com so we know to direct your donation to Ghana and so we can add your name to the Thank You list on our site!
