Neighbourhood Recycling Project 2012

Emirates Environmental Group, Dubai UAE

With the active involvement and commitment of EEG?s Student Members  is again offering the same platform that encourages its members to promote recycling within their respective neighborhoud in the summer break whilst exhibiting their proactiveness towards environment protection.

At the end of the 2011 Neighborhoud Recycling Project , a total of 9,654 kg of Papers were collected whichresulted in saving 164 trees , mitigating 37 MT Co2, saving 217Billion MTU energy, 30m3 space in the landfill .

Anyone and their family can participate in the Neighbourhood Recycling Project this summer through the collection of one or all of the recyclable materials as illustrated below within two weeks, this would include to run a small Recycling Collection Campaign for 7 to 15 days. You are also requested to design your own flyer for the campaign.
Participants are required to contact at least 20 families – from the neighborhood, friends or relatives.

An excel sheet containing the 20 families? full name, email addresses and all their contact details should be maintained.

Recyclable Material Amount to be  Collected

Paper: 500 kg

Mobile Phones (any brand):20 mobile phones

Tetrapak Containers: 15 kg

Aluminum Cans 30 kg (75 pcs/kg)

Battery (alkaline):10 kg (33 pcs/kg)

Plastic: 50 kg

Toner :50 pcs

At the end of the project, bring the recyclable materials collected to EEG office.
Students who are able to collect the targeted amount  within two weeks will be issued  a certification letter stating that the student participated in EEG?s Neighborhood Recycling Project and a tree will be also be planted under the student?s name.
EEG will include a write up on the Neighbourhood Recyling Project and the participants in its monthly newsletter.

Neighbourhoods are everywhere, so this summer you may design a similar project with targets and not only motivate yourself but also inspire others to join in
