The 12th Special Session of UNEP's Governing Council/Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC/GMEF) will aim to be as climate neutral and environment friendly as possible. Measures include offsetting of greenhouse gas emissions caused by participants travel to and stay in Nairobi, a reduction in the number of hard copies of all documents, and communication campaigns. In preparation for its twelfth special session of the Governing Council/ Global Ministerial Environment Forum (GC/GMEF) to be held from 20th to 22nd February 2012 in Nairobi, UNEP is organizing the thirteenth Global Major Groups and Stakeholders Forum (GMGSF-13) from 18th -19th February 2012 in Nairobi.
This forum is meant to facilitate Major Groups and Stakeholders of Civil Society participation in the UNEP Governing Council and its associated meetings. GMGSF-13 will also provide a platform and one of the last opportunities for Major Groups and Stakeholders and Governments to exchange on their respective positions for Rio+20 and strategize further for the conference itself.
