The Kenya Youth Network for Rio+20 and Beyond in partnership with the Office of the Prime Minister is organizing a Green Economy Stakeholders Workshop on 17th April 2012. The theme of the workshop is, "Advocating for Green Economy in Kenya Towards Rio+20". With less than 100 days to the Rio+20 Summit, the Workshop offers a perfect opportunity to discuss on Kenya?s priorities expectations for the Summit outcome as well as identifying the sustainable development challenges affecting the country in our efforts of transition to Green Economy. With Kenya actively involved in the Rio+20 preparatory process, noting the Kenya Position on the Rio+20 Summit by the Government and the Nairobi Declaration by young people, this is a perfect opportunity to further discuss the Rio+20 themes in the country. The workshop will bring together young people, government officials, experts, media and representatives from NGOs, private sector UN Agencies and development partners. The main goal of the workshop is to identify Green Economy needs and seek ways to support the efforts been made as well as to share knowledge and learn how to participate by facilitating the transition and addressing these needs. And further prioritizing the role and contribution of young people in shaping and developing the future we want in Kenya by engaging and supporting them to take action for long term sustainable development.
We are inviting passionate Kenyan young people, aged, 18- 35 years, involved in sustainable development or the Rio+20 preparatory process to be part of this event and provide a youth perspective in the deliberations. We realize the tole young people continue to play for a successful Rio+20. There are limited spaces and criteria for selection will be based on involvement in sustainable development initiatives
