Ashar 15th, National Rice Day  is also known as Dhan Diwas in Nepali. This day is regarded as the start of paddy cultivation and is celebrated with great joy by farmers. They work hand-in-hand in planting seedlings of rice and after a long day of work, they celebrate this day by eating yogurt, beaten rice and fruits. Thus, this day is also known as "dahi chiura"  day. National rice day has been celebrated in Nepal since 2062 BS.

This day has a great importance in Nepalese culture as rice is essential and staple food of Nepalese.
