Nepal Development Society (NeDS) is a non-governmental organization focusing on research, innovation, and development. Currently, it has three offices located in Kathmandu, Chitwan, and Kaski district. NeDS has started a project ¡°Composting and recycling for household and industrial waste management in Chitwan, Nepal (CAR-Nepal)¡± jointly with local government and International Center for Occupational, Environmental and Public Health (ICOEPH, Denmark). Hence the organization is inviting applications from qualified Nepali candidates for the Program Officer:
Duty Station: NeDS office, Bharatpur-5, Chitwan
Duration: 10 months (01/12/2020-31/09/2021)
Title: Program Officer
Reports to: Program Coordinator
Responsibilities:
Program Officer is responsible to work closely with local stakeholders and support the program coordinator to plan, implement and evaluate all the activities of the CAR-Nepal project to improve the health of people and environment by a proper waste management at household and small scale industrial level in Chitwan District, Nepal.
Job descriptions:
- Support to develop and implement programs for household and industrial waste management
- Support to develop Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials and mobilize social media for public awareness
- Sensitize households, students, local leaders and communities on health and environmental hazards due to household and industrial waste and capacitate them to its proper management
- Collect relevant information for the monitoring and evaluation of the project
- Assist the program coordinator for the advocacy to local, provincial and federal government of Nepal to develop suitable policies and programs for household and industrial waste management
- Contribute to evidence generation on the issue by engaging in researches and disseminating through scientific articles
Minimum Qualification: Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering or Environmental Science. Work experience in the sector of Waste Management would be preferable.
