The Rotary Club of Bagmati, Kathmandu and Southwestern State College, Basundhara, Kathmandu are jointly organizing Inter College Speech Competition 2022 on ¡°Rotary: The Four Way Test¡± on 23rd February, 2022 (2078 Falgun 11) at Southwestern State College, Basundhara, Kathmandu. The program is co-hosted by Zone 6 Clubs- Rotary Club of Kantipur Kathmandu, Rotary Club of Kathmandu Metro and Rotary Club of Tripureswor. Since the initial days of the association, Rotarians were concerned with promoting high ethical standards in their professional lives. One of the world's most broadly printed and quoted statements of business ethics is the 4-Way Test, which was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herberrt J. Taylor, when he was asked to take charge of a company that was facing bankruptcy. Interested colleges are invited to participate in the competition with one boy and one girl student who will deliver their speech. Prizes: First Prize: NRs 30,000/- Running Shield, Medal and certificate Second Prize: NRs 20,000/- Medal and certificate Third Prize: NRs 10,000/- Medal and certificate Consolation Prize: NRs 3,000/- + Certificate All the participants will get a certificate of participation. Eligibility Any +2 and university level student from all over Nepal recommended by the college they study. Rules for the Speech Contestants Subject: The contestant will focus one¡¯s speech on The Rotary - the Four Way Test: 1. Is it the TRUTH? 2. Is it FAIR to all concerned? 3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? 4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned? The topic must be specifically subjected to the Rotary 4-Way Test. It should not be profane, obscene unpatriotic or racist. The speech must apply the Rotary 4-Way Test as a standard in connection with other topics or life experiences or as a main topic. It must be used throughout the body of the speech and is not to be reserved for the beginning or concluding statements only. Content: Content must be original, prepared by the contestant, but may include references to research, quotations, statistics and material from other sources, as long as it contains an original or unique approach, not a substantial copy of another's product. Demonstration objects and visual aids may be used, but should not be a major portion of the speech. No slides, videos, or overhead projected images may be used. Delivery: The speech should not be read, but adequate outline notes may be used. The speech may be delivered entirely from memory. Length: The speech should be no less than 3 minutes or no more than 5 minutes in length. A speech that is delivered in less than 3 minutes or more than 5 is disqualified. Language: The contestant can deliver the speech in English or Nepali language. Program Schedule Speech Competition/Top 10 selection: 15th Feb 2022 (03 Falgun 2078) Time : 10 A. M.
