Recently, the World Bank projected that Nepal's economic growth rate will decline sharply this year. The World Bank has released its South Asia Economic Focus Report, which was released in April last year, stating that Nepal's economic growth rate will reach 1.8 to 2.8 percent this year. The global outbreak of the corona virus has projected a sharp contraction in economic growth due to a decline in tourism, trade and foreign trade. The World Bank had said six months ago that Nepal's economic growth rate would reach 6.3 percent. The situation is similar in other countries in South Asia. The situation is similar in Nepal and other countries in South Asia due to prolonged delays. The World Bank has said that Nepal's economic growth will be the worst in 40 years this year due to the corona virus. The corona virus has hit Nepal hard, especially for low-income and daily wage earners. The World Bank report also mentions that there may be a food security crisis even though there is no shortage of food items in rural and urban areas of Nepal so far. Similarly, the World Bank has projected that Nepal's economic growth rate will reach 1.4 percent in 2021 and 2.7 percent in 2022.

DrGiridhari Paudel,Statistician and PhD Scholar at Peking University Mr. Kamal Paudel, Incoming Yenching Scholar at Peking University and Student of Economics at Duke University Mr. Bigyan Babu Regmi, Co-Founder / Executive Director of Pokhara Research Centre Mr. Sujan Regmi as guest speakers .

The program will last for 1.5 hour and session will be moderated by our secretary Deepa Adhikari.The program will be streaming live from our facebook page tommrow(9th May, 2020,Saturday) at 7 p.m.
