According to the United Nations Development Programme, funds lost to corruption are estimated at 10 times the amount of official development assistance. Transparency ensures that public officials, civil servants, managers, board members, and businesspeople act visibly and understandably, and report on their activities. In this webinar, our YouthLead Ambassadors take a look at how social media can be used as a tool for ensuring accountability and transparency in the society. YouthLead Ambassador Jacmen Kouakou (Côte d'Ivoire) & Humayun Nosheerwan (Pakistan) share tips on leveraging the power of social media to advocate, engage, and hold accountable officials entrusted with public or private funds.

After this webinar, participants will understand what civic engagement and transparency imply and why is it important for youth to promote them amidst the COVID-19 pandemic while learning from other youths’ achievements and experiences and leverage to promote civic engagement and transparency. Participants will also learn what tools and strategies they can use to create more awareness about the cause, access volunteer opportunities, and raise donations.  Finally, they will learn practical skills and mechanisms needed to increase transparency in their communities amidst the novel COVID-19.
