The Student Conference on Conservation Science series in Cambridge, Australia, Beijing, Bangalore, New York and Hungary is the only international series of conservation conferences aimed entirely at students. SCCS helps young conservation scientists gain experience, learn new ideas and make contacts that will be valuable for their future careers. Over the past 19 years, SCCS Cambridge has hosted over 3,200 delegates from 133 countries worldwide.


SCCS is aimed at young researchers working university departments, conservation organizations, and resource management agencies. Approximately 200 postgraduate students (and similar-stage researchers) attend conference each year, from broad range disciplines conservation, including ecology, genetics, geography, sociology and economics.


The 2019 Conference:

The twentieth conference in the Cambridge series will be held from 26 - 28 March 2019, in the Department of Zoology, University of Cambridge, UK. Deadline for applications: Application to SCCS 2019 will open in late July 2018.

Who can attend?

The conference is designed for young conservation researchers from biological, environmental and geography departments of universities as well as conservation and resource management agencies. If you would like to come to our next conference, please fill in our application form.


Conference Costs:

The conference fee is £80 (this includes registration, carbon offset, lunches, tea and coffee, and three evening events). Accommodation with breakfast for a limited number of delegates is available in a nearby college at £40 per person per night.



SCCS will provide financial support for some students from developing countries and eastern Europe. Bursaries Can be used to cover travel and conference expenses.
