From the 2nd to the 13th of December 2019, the 25th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP25) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) will take place in Santiago, Chile.

As an observer organization accredited by the UNFCCC, CliMates can send a limited number of people to Chile and recruitment is now OPEN! The closing deadline will be on the 8th of September 2019 at 11PM (GMT +1).

We aim to create balanced teams (different ages, nationalities, knowledge of climate negotiations, etc.), but of course your motivation will be the key criteria! It goes without saying that new Mates are welcome to apply too!

Representing CliMates is a commitment. We will expect you to know the stakes of your commitment before heading to Chile!

If selected, you will have to attend a training session (date tbd) which will require you to prepare in advance (it will be possible to follow the training session online as well). Once at the conference, you will need to be punctual for the sessions and follow the negotiations closely. You will also be asked to share your experience with the CliMates community (and beyond!) by writing articles, being active on communication channels, creating video content, etc. And since you will be CliMates ambassadors, of course, we ask every delegate to maintain exemplary behaviors during sessions!

This may sound scary but attending a UNFCCC Conference is always a great experience and something we hope to make accessible to everybody! We are looking forward to receiving your applications :)

Please note that CliMates will unfortunately NOT be able to cover your travel and housing expenses! Also, note that in order to limit our carbon footprint, the delegates who will be selected to COP will have to cover the TWO WEEKS (we won't do a week 1 team, week 2 team as we usually did).
