Plastic Cleanup Drive at Baba Laal Das

¡°There is no such thing as 'away'. When we throw anything away it must go somewhere.¡±-Annie Leonard

A great numbers of animals die every day due to the fact that someone left their trash in the middle of their journey. We are not the only creatures living on this earth. There is a multitude of and a plethora of creatures with whom we share the planet.

The picture below was taken after a plastic cleanup drive at Baba Laal Das in Saharanpur, UP (India).  The initial plan was to pickup plastic bottles and plastic wrappers lying as trash. But needless to say, a lot of other waste was also found and was also picked up. The whole drive took almost 2 hours approximately and we collected 5 bags of trash at the end. We then called the Nagar Nigam van which subsequently took all the trash.

At the end of the day, we felt refreshed and relieved, believing that someone will lead a better life now from our efforts. There is nothing like ground action. Posting on social media about good habits won't save the earth unless we put our feet to the ground and get our hands dirty.

Needless to say, this was just one site where we could take action before the COVID second wave struck. There are many  more sites that need ground and community action. We are well aware of this and are planning to organize our next drives once the situation smoothens.

    Hi Pranav,

    This is your mentor Yuseon:D

Wow the first sentence that you quoted really makes me think about the problem.
Trash cannot get rid of itself. Cleaning up means we are rearranging the location of trash and getting them together, but that isn't the end of it. That's why we need to think more to collect the similar trashes together to recycle or upcycle them.

    Keep sharing,
    Yuseon
