Hello all Tunzians, Today is International Vulture awareness Day.

Vulture are large birds of prey that usually feed on carrion(dead or dying animals and rocks). Vulture play vital role in clean environment.

Facts about Vulture

-Vulture is a natural scavenging bird of prey

- Vultures use their large wings to soar in the air for many miles without having to flap

-Helps prevent spread of disease by feeding on carcass.

- Also called as natural sweeper of ecosystem

- Drastic declination of vulture population in past few decades was due to use of diclofenac drug for livestock treatment

- Viable population of all species of vulture must be restores through provision of safe food, suitable habitat maintenance and conservation of vulture in the world.

But latest human activities like deforestation has brought a problem for vultures and other birds. They are loosing their habitat and natural environment. Drastic declination of vulture species is due to use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug which is used to treat livestock in south asia as it causes kidney failure in vulture species.

So, awareness about this species is basic for the maintenance of ecosystem.
