Rice (Oryza sativa L) is economically and culturally most important food crop.More than 2.7 billion people rely on rice as their major source of food. Rice is staple food of more than 60% world population in world. India ,China, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Korea and Pakistan etc. Are major rice producing country.Rice is the most preferred stable food crop in Nepal and fulfil more than 50% of the calorie requirement of the Nepalese people. In Nepal, rice is grown by almost all people in the Terai ,foot hills and river basin . The terai region produces the largest amount almost (roughly 80%) of rice than hills and mountain. The eastern region produce more amount of rice than the Western part. The productivity is more in Hills as compared to Terai and inner Terai. This year I got chance to plant Rice in my village. Rice cultivation in hilly region almost depend on manual power. From land preparation to harvest of rice grain all the operation in hilly region .Due to undulated land structure in hilly area of Nepal , cultivation of rice is difficult as compared to Terai region . This year ,I realized that farmer are real hero, their sweat ,their hard work to produces single rice grain. These photos are from my village(Tanahu,Nepal) which I took during rice cultivation .

Hello Sonica,

As myself too belong from this agricultural dependant country, Nepal . So, I feel soo glad to see the tradition that fights the food insecurity by planting different productive crops
Keep on promoting the country's culture.
