Rhinoceros is one of the known and endangered animal of the world .It is found in African country and various countries of Asia.Today I am sharing about the One horned Rhinoceros which is very special and found only in countries like Nepal,India and nearby countries. In Nepal, one horned Rhino is conserved in Chitwan National Park,Chitwan and Bardiya National Park.
Greater one-horned rhino(Rhinoceros unicornis), also known as the Indian rhino lives in floodplain grassland and adjacent riverine forests of north Indian and southern Nepal. Belonging to the Rhinocerotidae family, rhinos are among the largest remaining megafauna. Characterized as odd-toed ungulate with single horn and armored skin, one-horned rhino lives on herbivorous diet. Rhinos have alarmingly become victims to poaching and their illegal trade, killed for their horns which are simply made of keratins (same type of protein that makes up hair and fingernails). Rhino horns are prime target of wildlife criminal networks making them severely vulnerable. An adult rhino usually weighs between 2-2.5 metric tonnes. Rhinos usually lead a solitary life, but they may also graze and wallow together. Calves follow their mothers for 1-3 years. Females are sexually mature between 5 and 7 years old, while males mature at about 10 years of age.About 600 Rhinos are conserved in Chitwan National Park Nepal. In history of Nepal
Rhino is seemed to be conserved from long past.
Rhinos are the main source of attraction of tourists in Nepal and a good spurce of income.Rhinos have their unique characters and having high value of their horn they are dound to be hunted and killed by poachers. Rhinoceros can be detected by their stool as they stool on the same place one angd again. Illegal hunters follow their path and kill them. They being the endangered species are to be conserved otherwise their extinction is sure.Rhino are the ornaments of our country which has aid in the national economy and has increase the beauty of the nature. They are not only of unique characters but also they have high value of their parts.
It is very essential to understand their values but that doesnot mean that we should hunt them for the products we can manufacture from them. So, the topics for Rhino conservation are being raised these days and actions are being taken.Recently twenty plus Rhino has died in Chitwan National Park which is a great loss.
It is very important to conserve the wildlife and species as they are the national ornaments and their values should be understood. However,it is necessary to conserve Rhino for their existence.
