Hello everyone,
I hope all of you are fine and doing great..Today , I attended a webinar which was related to the Nijgad forest of Nepal The webinar includes the discussion related to the forest and the goverment plan to make International Airport at that forest. Most of us Nepalese are well known about the fact that government has planned to make the Second International Airport at that forest which require massive deforestation of the forest area and leads to destruction of forest which will eventually cause large scale displacement of wildlife native to that area. The forest occupies an area of 8045 .79 hecatares which is covered with Shorea Robusta ( Sal trees) that are home to countless species including 33 different mammals, over 300 plus different variety of birds , all of which will be adversely affected by cutting the trees. It will not only lead to loss of biodiversity but will degrade the enviroment. The degradation of environment will lead to climate change, global warming , shortage of food production, shortage of water resources , drought and other natural calamities. A country need development works for its growth but the nature should be preserved with the development works. The development works should be done with some alternative related to compensate the damage done by the development works. If such things are not done then in initial phase we will obviously get benefits from the development works but I future we have to face various consequences. We are a part of the nature and we need it for our existence. #Biodiversity
