With the ever-increasing demand of food due to the ever-increasing human population, there is an immense threat to the food security of the people around the world. In addition, the current COVID-19 pandemic has been a curse to the field of Agriculture and is bound to increase the risk of food security to a much greater extent. In times like these, one must be ready to face and determined to do anything possible to tackle the present and the future possible problem of food security. Acknowledging these facts, one can grow their own organic and healthy food to achieve self-sufficiency even if they live in cities where agricultural land is scarce with minimum investment and simply utilizing the waste materials like plastic bottles, tin and plastic paint boxes, old drinking water jars, unused rice sacks, poly pots, dokos and thunses, etc. to cultivate different vegetables, fruits and spices like Bottle gourd, Ridge gourd, sponge gourd, Bitter gourd, cucumber, okra, chillies, ginger, potato garlic, onion, spearmint, coriander, strawberry, watermelon, cowpea, beans and many more according to the season and spaces available at home in their very own terrace. This concept of Terrace kitchen gardening also utilizes biodegradable kitchen wastes to create compost that can be utilized to fertilize the soil used and a healthy and green environment along with the preservation of biodiversity at ones's home itself besides aiding to maintain food security.
