Electricity is one of the most valuable gifts of science. Today, we use electricity for many purposes. If the supply of electricity stops for a short time, we are put to great difficulty and inconvenience. The use of electricity began in England. Faraday is called the Father of Electricity.
There are two types of electricity, static and current. Static electricity cannot be transferred from one object to another. Current electricity can be transferred by means of wire. The electricity that we use is current electricity. It is generally produced with the help of water. So it is called hydro-electricity or white coal.Electricity has many uses. It gives us heat, light and power. We use heaters in winter.We use electric fans to keep us cool in summer. Electricity is used to work lifts. Our telephones and radios are worked by electricity.Telegraphic messages are sent with the help of electricity. Electricity has a great number of uses. Electricity is a good friend if used properly. It is a dangerous enemy if used improperly. Sometimes, it causes fire and explosion. As time passes, the use of electricity is bound to increase more and more. We require a large number of electrical engineers and technicians. Electricity has become one of the most valuable thing.
