I was thinking to write about something. But I was not getting any specific topic. Then I realize about yesterday! when we read about popular breeds of pig . So, I thought why not this? After all we should know about it right? There are more breeds of pigs. And I have mentioned here some of the popular breeds of pig. Let's start from" Pygmi Bandel". This breed is found in throughout northern India, Bhutan, and Nepal. Their coats have blackish-brown bristles over gray-brown skin. Gestation is approximately 100 days and litters size 2to6. Similarly, "Hurra", this is found in throughout terai of Nepal. Its main distinguish character is that their coats have brown bristles on the neck portion. Female is heavier than male. Likewise "Bampudke", This is known as the smallest domesticated breed of pig. Its color varies red-brownish to black. Another is "Pakhribas", It is black in color. The pakhribas Black Pig was developed at pakhribas Agriculture Centre Dhankuta Nepal through three ways crossing between Saddleback, Fayun and Tamworth. Similarly," Yarkshire", large white, this is originated from uk. It is also known as the mother breed because of outstanding milking and mothering abilities. its ear are erect. Skin is free from from wrinkles. Similarly, "Middle white Yorkshire" , it is medium sized. White in color. Ears are nearly erect but somewhat inclined forwards. It is prolific breeder, maturing early and the sows make good mothers. "Duroc", it is solid red in color, dropped ears. Excellent meat type hog. And looks like a big dog. Similarly, "Hampshire", probably the oldest American breed, Black hog with a white band around the body at the shoulder including the front legs and feet. So these are the some breeds of pigs. |
