A visit to the green hub HCI

by Kalyani Shrestha | 11-02-2020 16:33 recommendations 1

"Sustainability" is a thing frequently heard of and has been impactful enough among us to generate momentary concerns for it. Himalayan Climate Initiative in its new location,Budhanilkantha is able to adopt sustainability in all possible and practical ways.#notoplastic

The place depicts interconnectedness between sustainable development , suatainable lifestyle as well as social sustainability. My visit to HCI kept me pleasantly startled with the eco-friendly and recycled possibilities to create such beautiful atmosphere within the city. The entry gate of HCI to begin with is created friendly to the differently-abled. The tiles are designed to allow infiltration and concretion is avoided with all possible alternatives. Plastic here is strictly prohibited and in turn the PET plastics collected by our "Nagarmitras" is sorted for various ways to get recycled . Organics and IPM cultivation is being practiced all around with zero food waste, women empowered ¡°Hamri Bahini¡± and many more.
The climate smart agriculture

The overall approach is very amiable with all of our SDGs and is an utopia in terms of sustainability. Life always provides alternatives to choose from in all our practices. HCI is an excellent place to learn, get inspired and always welcomes visitors and young volunteers from all around.
