3 Ways to Stay Healthy While in College

College is a very demanding, stressful experience. Your body and mind are pushed to the point of exhaustion every week and the pressure to succeed can take a toll on even the healthiest of people. Whether you are just starting out or at the end of your senior year, you can also use reminders on how to take care of yourself. Here are some tips on ways to stay healthy while in college so you can make the most of this critical time of your life.

1. Add Quality Supplements

The value of good nutrition while your body is stressed cannot be overstated. You need to consume healthy portions of protein, vegetables, carbohydrates and fats to keep your system nourished. Add to this daily routine quality supplements and programs that enhance your energy but have no negative results, such as thrive, so you can give your body extra support. Thrive side effects shouldn't occur unless you are allergic to its ingredients, which are listed with the product. It might be tempting to fill your body with quick and easy foods like sodas and cookies, but these will only drain your system because sugar leads to crashes. Keep healthy finger foods like apples and bananas in your room. Making solid choices about food and supplements gives your body the fuel it needs to stay focused during tests, projects and class time.

2. Keep Clean

After living through a pandemic, we all understand the importance of washing our hands. Just because the worst of it may be over doesn't mean you let up on this key method of staying healthy. Practice great hand hygiene every day so that it is routine for you. In addition to cleaning your hands, make it your practice to clean your clothing, living space and means of transportation regularly. If you have a quality microfiber cloth that only requires water, then be sure to launder it properly after cleaning with it. Use an agent that is going to destroy the bacteria you are exposed to and bring home with you from classrooms and entertainment venues. Wash your clothes weekly so they do not build up and keep the dirty ones in a covered container. Your immune system is going to be strong from your great nutritional intake, but your body may still be susceptible to illness because of the mental and physical strain that college life demands. Keeping your environment clean and as free of bacteria as possible supports your good health.

3. Take a Nap

Sleep is not overrated. It may be very difficult to obtain during your semester, but you still need to strive to catch that elusive nap. Sleep is the cornerstone of good health because when you are exhausted and your system is tapped out, even great nutrition and clean hands might not save you from the sickness lurking in your dorm hallway. Listen to your body. If it tells you that you are too tired to meet your friends out, then tell them you will be the first one on the dance floor the next time you go out, but for now, you need to sleep. Giving into peer pressure will only lead to your demise and possible sickness if you are too exhausted.

Success in college is critical to your career. Maintaining your health so you can learn and effectively participate in this experience depends on making good choices. Eat well and take quality supplements, keep your hands and belongings clean and get enough rest so that your body has all it needs to endure college pressure. These are three ways you can establish healthy habits for an awesome future.
