Rubus ellipticus: Hidden medicinal fruit

by Madhu Aryal | 15-10-2019 19:54 recommendations 0

"Rubus ellipticus" commonly known as aiselu in Nepal is the common fruit .It belongs to family Rapaceae. It is grown in dry slopes, mountain valleys and in the elevation of 1000 - 2600 meter. Many of us have taken the sweet taste of it but we are unknown about its medicinal value

"R.ellipticus" has it's different varieties with own medicinal importance .Suming up them in short : The plant is astringent and febrifuge.  The juice of the root is used in the treatment of fevers, gastric troubles, diarrhoea and dysentery. A paste of the roots is applied externally to wounds too. Both the roots and the young shoots are considered to be a good treatment for colic. The juice of the fruit is used in the treatment of fever, colic, coughs and sore throat. Moreover it is used in the treatment of weakening of the senses, vaginal/seminal discharge, polyuria and micturation during sleep.

Today when I was travelling I saw this fruit and studied about it's medicinal importance and found amazing. I have uploaded the pic of aiselu full on my hand.I think this can be helpful for Tunza members too . Please read and comment me so that I can write more about our nature.
