Ozone protect us from UV rays coming from the sun. United Nations General Assembly designated September 16 as the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. It  had been made on December 19, 2000, in commemoration of the date, in 1987, on which different nations signed the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.

It is marked to spread awareness among people about depletion of Ozone Layer and search possible way to preserve it. On this day, people are expected to join Montreal protocol to join the talks and seminars.

Main cause of depletion of Ozone layer is human activity mainly human-made chemicals that contain chlorine or bromine. Ozone is responsible for shielding the UV rays from sun; its depletion may cause severe health hazards. So, its our responsibility to act for protection of Ozone layer. Let¡¯s celebrate ozone day and act for its protection.
