We are living in the world running out of available water resources to feed up us. It is projected that 50 percent of whole human population would be dealing with pressing water shortage by 2050. Nearly all the crucial industrial sectors, such as energy, environment, mining, marine, is somehow interrelated with the water supply. This refers to the undeniable importance of sustainable water management systems around the globe. Then, how to succeed in that? Before advocating for potential solutions, let`s firstly identify causes of the downward trend in drinkable water reserves. It is primarily due to the inefficient water consumption in household during dishwashing and flushing, especially. In order to overcome it effectively, new technological advancements should be applied in our homes: ¡°water-free¡± urinals, rainwater harvesting facility and even newly emerged techniques for dishwashing. Apart from that, obviously, there are more serious actions, which are responsible for a large portion of water waste. For instance, agricultural practices tend to release poisoning chemicals into water bonds, while simultaneously uses excess amount of water because of old irrigation systems. All of them can only be solved with the initiative of governments to utilize modern technologies for controlling and preventing these circumstances. Considering their vulnerability against increased demand as a result of huge population growth, developing countries located in South-East Asia and Middle East should be subsidized by large organizations (United Nations, World Bank) for successfully changing their current technological background. Moreover, desalination, a process of turning out salty water into drinkable formation, is another remarkable constituent. Although its pros and cons are discussed thoroughly, desalination is worth being at least started in all the regions. That is the basic overview of situation around component making our lives, water. It is ideal time to be more caring for it! Nihat Hajiyev |
