Just as anything that is made by the earth, naturally and by man, artificially, diamonds share almost the exact same DNA. Diamonds that are made by man in a lab have some type of impact on the environment because they are manufactured inside of a large building. Because they are being manufactured artificially, this means that they are not friendly to the earth per-say, but they are much better for the earth than the traditional method of mining for diamonds is.  

While manufacturing a diamond requires lab technicians to use large quantities of electricity, water, chemicals, and other materials within the lab, they are still emitting less greenhouse gas into the environment which in turn hurt our ozone layer, than are emitted during regular mining practices. We see that when we produce diamond in labs instead of mining them, we can cut down on the negative environmental impact by millions.

How Lab Made Diamonds Have Less of an Impact on the Land

There are several ways our society has started mining for diamonds, and every one of these methods are harsh on our environment. Mining causes large pits or holes to be dug into the earth which could lead to permanent damage on landscape and actually become hazardous areas for people surrounding the mining area. Mining can also have a serious negative effect on the soil and cause issues like infertile soil and soil that erodes quickly leaving a landscape completely devastated and unable to return to how it once was.

Growing diamonds in a lab keeps mining companies from digging thousands of mines every year leading to deforestation and erosion of our earth, and in return keeping people from being able to farm and provide for their communities and either displacing wildlife or killing it off. Diamonds grown in labs keep our environment safe and allows for animals to have a home in rich nutritious lands once again.

Lab Grown Diamonds Help Protect Water Sources

Whenever persons or companies find diamonds that are in the bottom of a body of water, or if a body of water is getting in the way of them making headway in their mining operations, these mining companies will find a way to get rid of the water so that they can go about their business.

When a mining company dams up a water source or reroutes the water flow, it causes a huge disturbance to the environment. It can disrupt reproduction cycles of wildlife and plants and can kill animals that depend on that source of water to give them life.

Even if the water sources are left alone or not relocated, mining operations will cause the water to become so polluted that animals can die and farmers who use it for their crops will be unable to irrigate their crops causing them to have to move away. Building labs where diamonds can be artificially grown means that we are making a conscientious effort to take care of our planet once again. While it does take more time to grow diamonds in a lab, it is a much more eco-friendly process of creating diamonds that are just as beautiful as nature made diamonds. While making diamonds in a lab does still cause some impact on the environment, it is a far better process than the extreme toll traditional mining methods are taking on our environment.
