Air pollution causes by particle or chemicals in the atmospheric which pose serious health and environmental threats. Anthropogenic activities like energy used in agriculture contribute more for air pollution. Air pollution and its impact are seen in our major cities of world. Research shows that air pollution reduces life span of people by an average of four years. So, we must need to do some action to mitigate its impact. I am going to share some ideas which we can do in our daily life to beat air pollution. Practices to beat air pollution we can perform both inside and outside the home.As we know that indoor home pollution is 3-6 % more than outside. The actions we can take in our daily lives to help reduce air pollution are: 1. Use of indoor plant like Snake plant, Money plant, Rubber plant, chamadora palm, Areca palm which are good air purifier.
2. Now we are in digital world. We most prefer paperless because newspaper, printed paper are printed with inks that release harmful toxins. 3. Use energy efficient light bulbs, conserve energy like turnoff light when not in use. 4. Remove our shoes outside as it bring filth and muck inside home. 5. Use of bee wax candle during our celebration on birthday, dashain, Tihar etc which is quite more expensive but it has no side effect. Also, celebration together in colony reduces air quality decline. 6. We can consume healthy diet that helps to reduce adverse effects of smog. For example: Turmeric, Garlic, Tomato, citrus fruit, Broccoli etc. 7. Use of exhaust fan or open the windows while cooking which removes cooking residues. Outside home practices 1. Always wear mask when we are outside home. 2. Plant more and more trees in our community. Moreover, we need to start the practices of af forestation of plant on our birthday. Go Green!! 3. Reuse and Recycle the things that prevent waste being sent to land fill site. 4. Use of bicycles for shorter route like for market, college which is not only eco-friendly but also beneficial for well being and health. 5. Use public transport instead of private. 6. Using solar panel for energy generation that will result in fewer burdens to thermal power plant. 7. Avoid eating meat as it lower the ammonia emission from animal farming so eat more veggies. |
