Let’s protect our health through biodiversity

We as global citizens need to rethink and consume food and share it with others. Agriculture provides us with all types of nutrient foods. Farmers are migrating to towns and cities in search of better job and other opportunities. This is one of the main reason for poor food security, due to which many of them are suffering from malnutrition or food deficiency. For proper nourishment to all people and to eradicate hunger we need to look into our agricultural system and assist farmers so that we can increase our food productivity.

I am currently working towards Sustainable Development Goal 2 – Zero Hunger – End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. I had invented a robot called Agribot, an agricultural robot used for ploughing the soil, sowing the seeds and covering the seeds with soil.

Agribot Control (AC) App along with Agribot will overcome the major issue of hunger and promote sustainable agriculture and assist farmers in getting their work done efficiently and with greater speed and accuracy.

Description

The purpose of AgriBot (Agriculture Robot) is to help the farmers in hot countries like UAE for agricultural purposes. It is designed to minimize the labor of farmers in addition to increasing the speed and accuracy of the work. It performs the elementary functions involved in farming i.e. ploughing the field, sowing of seeds and covering the seeds with soil.

Agribot Control (AC) App has a feature to send start and stop signals to the Agribot. As soon as the signal from the App reaches the Agribot it starts to do the function as per the different options chosen by the farmer.

Applicability:

Agribot Control (AC) App in sync with Agribot may be used in the real world by farmers and it will greatly help them controlling, researching and analysing the input and output markets with regards to the marketplaces, prices and other materials required for farming so as to maintain sustainability in agriculture.

Locally grown food:

United Arab Emirates’ temperature is really high with very low or little rainfall which isn’t conducive for growing crops. The farmers are using the modern agricultural technologies and producing fruits and vegetables despite the many environmental challenges that they are facing. UAE is producing many local products that are both healthier and cheaper.

Many farmers are using a fibrous coconut husk (Cocopeat) instead of soil to grow. The cocopeat goes into the hydroponic bag and then the plants sit within the bags themselves. Farmers are using smart technology that sees produce are grown in a large greenhouse. They are able to monitor each crop individually and control temperature, humidity, amount of sunlight, wind...

UAE produces a host of vegetables including tomatoes, cucumbers, capsicums and courgette. The fresh produce is sent to the local market within 24 hours of being picked and packed which gives the residents an opportunity to buy fresh and local food.

UAE is using traditional medicines that can be effective to cure different diseases and reduce the side effects of synthetic drugs.
