Sainath Manikandan, Grade 6, GEMS United Indian School student is a young environmentalist and green activist. He is on a mission as a Drop It Youth Ambassador to put an end to single-use plastics such as plates, cups, spoons, forks, bottles, … He along with his friends and sister Sai Sahana Manikandan raise environmental awareness in their school and community by giving presentations and pep talks. They collect recycling materials such as carton boxes, old newspapers, magazines, plastic bottles and cans for their PEPC Campaign. They strongly believe that “Together we can create a wave of change!” Sustainability was the core of H.H. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahayan. As we approach the end of 2018, “Year of Zayed”, the eco-warriors were involved in a magnitude of activities honoring the founding father’s vision for the UAE. The winter vacation is utilized in a meaningful and useful way with “EEG’s Green December” campaign. This campaign will divert materials in getting piled up in landfills and thereby conserve resources. |
