Trees play an important role in human lives and contribute to our environment by providing oxygen, improving air quality, conserving water, preserving soil, and supporting wildlife. Trees take in carbon dioxide and produce oxygen we breathe during the photosynthesis process. They also filter air by removing dust and absorbing other pollutants.

 

The harmful effects of the sun are moderated by the trees. They keep things cools in summer as the leaves absorb and filter the radiant energy from the sun. They also preserve warmth and influence wind speed and direction. They also shield us from the downfall of hail and rain. They do lower the air temperature and reduce the heat of the greenhouse effect.

 

“For Our Emirates We Plant” is one of the major project of Emirates Environmental Group. EEG aims to mobilize the community together and finds unique ways to give back to the environment. One of the most popular programmes of EEG is the tree planting programme. Many organizations, academic institutions, families have become more responsible and responsive in preserving the earth’s resources and environment through this endeavor. Several EEG projects are launched under the umbrella of “For Our Emirates We Plant” such as

2.      Neighborhood Recycling Project

3.      One Root, One Communi-Tree

4.      Recycle Reforest Repeat

5.      Together We Plant

6.      Planting for a Greener Future

 

 

The objective of these projects is to increase the sustainable green patches throughout the country, provide a natural habitat for the wildlife to thrive, while diverting waste and implementing solid recycling habits in the community. The participants who become eligible to plant trees under the first four projects are invited to plant trees towards the end of each year.

 

I had participated and planted 5 trees on December 18, 2018 in Minae’, South Ras Al Khaimah(Skheibar Area). This year, 1000 trees were planted. As we approach the end of 2018, it is time for us to plan and take resolutions to conserve and preserve our earth’s resources and environment in 2019 by following simple steps such as:

 

1.      Follow 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle)

2.      Conserve water and electricity

3.      Volunteer for cleanups in your community

4.      Plant a tree

5.      Educate others about the importance of conserving and preserving our earth’ resources

6.      Take a pledge to stop using single-use plastics
