One health, The Environment, The Animals, The Humans

by Deepak Subedi | 31-05-2018 16:31 recommendations 0

One Health recognizes that the health of people is connected to the health of animals and the environment. The goal of One Health is to encourage the collaborative efforts of multiple disciplines-working locally, nationally, and globally-to achieve the best health for people, animals, and our environment.

A One Health approach is important because 6 out of every 10 infectious diseases in humans are spread from animals.

2.The open border with India and the residence of people in human wildlife interface further complicates and increases the threat.
3.Currently, Nipah virus has been found out in India already killing about a dozen of people. There is no certainity that it wont be seen in Nepal which can bring chaos.
4.Nipah is only a reflection of many more threats, so we have to be very much aware about such threats
5.The One health concept is an concept to be globalized, hence we seek support from other foreign organization too.
