In Remembrance of Mr. Lotter A Conservationalist |

Not a lot of people can compare themselves to the dedication and passion of Wayne Lotter, a 51 year-old NGO who has spent the majority of his adult life as an active wildlife conservationist. None can match his resilience against the pressures that stem from him going head-to-head against wildlife trafficking institutions.
The greatest sacrifice he has had for the environment however, is far greater - his life. He was found dead just earlier today as an unknown assailant gunned him down through the window of his car. Primary evidences suggests that the crime has been done by an anti-wildlife network. Leading a life of environmental conservationalism is no easy task, especially in Tanzania, where a constant stream of criticisms and death threats would be a normal occurance. The government of Tanzania seems to have given ample support to Mr. Lotter's cause but the resilient attitude of the Tanzanian people still remains a problem. Many say that the true value of a person would only be known in his obituary. But perhaps it is time for us, and society to stay clear of this belief. Maybe we should value people for who they are and the what they are doing regardless of the impact and progress that they seem to be doing. Only then can we support more environmentally conscious people to continue their stance for sustainability. It is perhaps no mystery that there a lot of Mr. Lotters living in our world today. And perhaps a lot of us are. But regardless, I suggest that we live life to the fullest and leave our impact while we still can.
