In Nepal and other similar developing countries the major blame for lack of environmental programmes is placed on the politicians. But the newly elected Mayor of Kathmandu city, Mr. Bidhya Sundar Shakya, has completely stood against this views. The newly elected Mayor has already started to show his concerns towards the environment. His first act as the Mayor was to sign in and execute the programme of " Clean The City" in the Kathmandu valley.  As soon as his oath taking ceremony conducted at his office in Sundhara ended, Shakya signed in the campaign of cleaning the city. Similarly he has started the planting of "Rudrakshya trees" along the pavement of city roads. According to his view, planting of this religious tree not only protects our culture but can also give beneficial fruits. He is determined to fill the pavements with such tree and fulfill his commitment in making the capital green and clean. He has also informed that he will compulsarize the use of mask  in the Kathmandu valley. So let?s hope that this will continue in the future and we can see our dream of Clean and Green Kathmandu.
